Imperial Furniture was founded in 1962 by Russ and Eleanor Klapchuk and was originally Imperial Bedding. As a mattress manufacturer and furniture retailer, Imperial Bedding Co. eventually outgrew its original downtown location and expanded to its current location in 1972. Due to stricter rules and regulations in fire retardant testing, Imperial Bedding discontinued its manufacturing operations in the mid 70’s. In the years following, Imperial Furniture quickly grew as a furniture retailer providing quality brand names in living room, bedroom and dining room furniture. Carol (Klapchuk) Springsteen and husband Art, who had been in the car business, bought Imperial in the early 1990’s. Imperial continued to expand by offering home décor, unique decorative accessories, specialty gift items and holiday décor.
